Hi, my name is Joe and I joined DTSQUARED in June 2021 as a Graduate Sales Executive.
Prior to this, I graduated from Northumbria University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering before spending 18 months travelling across Southeast Asia and Australia. Whilst in Australia I gained experience working in door-to-door sales and became a Team Leader of twelve representatives. It was during this time that I decided I wanted to pursue a career in sales, so upon arriving back in the UK I applied for a role at DTSQUARED. The combination of a working in a sales role for a data focused company seemed like the perfect opportunity to combine my areas of interest.
Outside of work I am a keen tennis and cricket player, and at University I was president of the Ultimate Frisbee team playing to a national standard.
What do you do at DTSQUARED?
During my three-month graduate programme, I learnt everything there is to know about data across a variety of industries to help me build a strong foundational knowledge of the services offered by DTSQUARED. I really enjoyed putting together presentations on topics we had covered and sharing them with the rest of the graduates in my cohort. I learnt a lot about how companies can become more efficient by adopting an effective data strategy, which I found fascinating. The client role plays were also something I enjoyed and probably learnt the most from. We would act out a client meeting with other members of staff and were tasked with finding out relevant information to help us come up with suitable solutions to their challenges.
Now that I have finished the graduate scheme I am focusing solely on the sales side of the business, helping to create new pipelines whilst improving existing relationships. Given that DTSQUARED have recently become part of the Projective Group, I am also learning more about how this partnership will broaden our offerings.
Looking to the future I am very excited to bring on my first client – this is the main goal I am working towards.
What do you enjoy about working at DTSQUARED?
What I like most about working at DTSQUARED is the fact that everyone in the company is extremely approachable and willing to share their expertise, which creates a very supportive and collaborative culture.
I found that the graduate scheme was really beneficial on entering the industry as I learnt a lot from working alongside the other grads in my group and, given that I was moving to London for the first time, it was also a great way of meeting new people.
Outside of the office, DTSQUARED is very involved in helping the wider community. For example, in my first month I was proud to take part in a Splash project with the whole company where we built a wildlife area in a local primary school. I found that the opportunity to all come together and create something meaningful for the children was very rewarding.
